About Me

Hello!  My name is Cheryl Mandell and I will be your child’s fourth grade teacher this year.  I am looking forward to working with you and your son or daughter.  This is going to be a big year full of lots of learning!

Here is a little background about who I am: I am an Oregon native.  My family (husband and daughter) and I have lived in the Portland area for the past ten years.  I received a bachelor’s degree in General Science with a minor in Geology from the University of Oregon in 2005 (Go Ducks!) and a master’s degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education from Lewis & Clark in 2013.  This will be my sixth year with the Beaverton School District.  I started as a student teacher, and then I substituted for a year before taking on my own classroom.  I have taught both fourth and fifth grade.

I love the outdoors and being in nature!  One of my biggest passions is rock hunting with my husband and daughter.  We spend many weekends out in creek beds poking around for jasper, agates, and other interesting finds.  I also enjoy painting and photography.

My inspiration for teaching and working with children comes from watching my daughter grow and learn.  There is nothing more satisfying to me than seeing children light up when they learn something new.  As your child’s teacher it is my goal to not only teach, but to care for your child, so that school will be a safe and comfortable place for him/her to learn and grow.  It is my hope that we will be able to work together to accomplish this goal (and many others) this year.

Sincerely,

Cheryl Mandell
